About us at the beautiful Primitive store Nana's Farmhouse

About us

The story about us and of how we started is pretty simple!  First of all, we believe in a simple way of life, large porches with rockers and the sound that only a shutting screen door can make!

I’m just like so many of the customers we serve! For 30 years I shopped with my Mom, daughters, sisters and friends looking for “old-time touches, something unique, country, primitives, antiques, you know, the things I love” for my home. It has always been my passion!  Several years ago an unexpected career change came my way. My husband encouraged me to do what I “loved.” That is how the concept of our cozy store came to be.

As we started to think of names for our country, primitive, store my husband shared a 100 year old family photo that inspired him.   He grew up in the rural area of Missouri’s Bootheel and the photo was of his great-grandparent’s farmhouse in 1907.  They affectionately called his great-grandmother, “Nanny.”  He suggested that since our grandkids call me, “Nana”, what about Nana’s Farmhouse?   Nana’s Farmhouse Primitives, LLC, was born in October, 2012.  We started in the basement of our home and with a booth in a local Antique Mall.  In 2012 there were no shows on the DIY channels promoting “Farmhouse Style.”  Our vision was to blend the old and new, antiques with reproductions, metals with wood.  After lots of planning, thought and prayer we opened our storefront in August, 2014.

Our vision is to take touches of Colonial, the coziness of Country and the simplicity of Primitive and blend it together with handmades, antiques and reproductions to create a unique shopping experience unlike anywhere else for our customers.  The term many use today is Urban Farmhouse.  We care about quality and we use the handmades and other products in our home so that we know we are bringing our customers only the best home décor.

Let us help make designing your home easy and enjoyable! Our mission is old fashioned service… with a smile!

Our store is located at 5171 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Missouri, minutes from South County Mall, near both I-55 or 270/255.  We’re easy to find in the Butler Hill Plaza, at the corner of Butler Hill Road & Lemay Ferry Road, next to Kutis.

Drop by and visit our primitive, rustic, country decor store in person.  You’ll enjoy our cozy atmosphere, delicious scents, soothing sounds and our friendly staff.

When you shop with us you’re supporting a locally owned business.  We employee people from our local community.  You’re also supporting dozens of other small businesses from across America that craft many of the handmade items we carry.  Small businesses combine to employee the most Americans and that is what makes our country great.  We hope you enjoy your shopping and learning more about us.  Nana’s Farmhouse Primitive LLC is a Primitive, Rustic, Country decor store St. Louis, Missouri!

About Nana's Farmhouse Primitive, Rustic, Country Decor Store St. Louis

(Photo of old farmhouse at the top of the page was taken in 1907 in Vanduser, Scott County, Missouri. It is a family photo of my husband’s great grand-parent’s home.  His great aunts and uncles are on the front porch. This photo was the inspiration for the name of our store. My husband’s great-grandmother was affectionately called “Nanny”.  Because our grandkids call me “Nana” it seemed like the perfect blend… Nana’s Farmhouse.)
